Pennsylvania-based tour bus company Super Luxury Tours has been ordered out-of-service by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in the wake of the March 14 crash on the New Jersey Turnpik that killed the bus driver, one passenger and injured 40 others. The company has had its USDOT operating authority suspended for violating insurance requirements for commercial motor carriers. Under the order, Super Luxury Tours is prohibited from operating interstate transportation services. Last year, Super Luxury buses clocked more than 2.2 million miles on America’s roadways, with vast majority of those miles recorded moving passengers to and from many East Coast locations.
Anne Ferro, FMCSA’s administrator, said in a statement that the federal agency “will use every available resource to pursue and shut down passenger bus companies that evade federal regulations and put motorists at risk.”
Days after the accident a report from the U.S. Department of Transportation found Super Luxury Tours had one of the worst driver safety records in the U.S. According to the report, 16 company drivers were involved in four accidents, two involving injuries. Drivers were also cited six times for speeding and three times for failure to obey traffic signals. On other occasions company drivers could not understand or answer basic orders in English.

No surprise there ! As a driver running throughout the Northeast I always exercised caution whenever in the vicinity of one of those “no-name” white buses.
As a driver for 28 years those no name buses are the absolute worse, including the ones with the oriental writing on the side all they can say is no speak no english. Then how did they get their CDL’s ?
Seems like there is more work to do. And I for one do not mind the inspections.
