Spokane, WA residents who use the city’s transit system will soon have nine bus routes cut and over a dozen other redesigned. According to The Spokane-Review, the Spokane Transit Authority is now looking to its ridership for discussion on how to best handle the proposed 7 percent cut in service. If enacted, the slash in service would begin next September. The cuts have a human element. More than two dozen jobs, which include 16 bus driver positions, are on the chopping block. Spokane Transit management is hoping retirements and resignations will avoid worker layoffs. STA is currently working on a $60 million annual budget. I would hope that all bus routes would be kept as nessary and as needed. On sunday it would be nice if the Routes #26 and #28 would go all the way North for those in that area could take these bus’s especially in the winter time Instead of having to truck through the snow, Ice and rain to catch the North Division bus. It is necessary for these routes tocontinue on these routes and and to travel further North Of Francis on Sundays especially for the Elderly and the disabled Let’s not for get them.
