Phoenix, AZ authorities are still investigating a bomb threat that could be linked to the lockout of transit workers by Veolia Transit Services in Phoenix. According to The State Press, late Monday night a suspicious, bomb-like device was found sitting against the transit bureau’s building in downtown Phoenix. The State Press reports that the device was in a cardboard box that had a number of packages inside, along with wiring and electrical components. The device was also making a noise. Bomb crews used a robot to explode one of the packages. Three transit unions are threatening to strike a day after Veolia locked out approximately 50 Teamsters local 104 maintenance union workers after talks hit an impasse at 12:01 a.m. Monday morning. Police are viewing security cameras and using fingerprints and DNA to try to identify the person or persons who placed the box by the building. Authorities do not know of the exact motive.
