Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has met with Chinese government officials who could possibly fund his ambitious transit plan to construct a dozen mass transit projects in the next decade.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Villaraigosa considers China an option in case a congressional stalemate occurs over transportation funding. The paper reports that Villaraigosa met with officials from China Investment Corp. in Beijing in December during an Asian trade mission trip. Also at the meeting was David Yale, an official with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
