Kolodziej: EPA, DOT missing NG incentives in proposal

The president of Natural Gas Vehicle America is disappointed that the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation have not included incentives for natural gas in its recently released proposal to reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency. NGVAmerica head Richard Kolodziej said the rules are “designed to address the urgent and closely intertwined challenges of dependence on oil, energy security and global climate changes, and natural gas vehicles do just that and more.” Kolodziej added that in the weeks ahead NGVAmerica would be working with others in the natural gas industry to ensure the EPA is aware of the benefits of natural gas vehicles.

On Monday, the EPA and DOT released a 660-page report calling for changes in vocational vehicles, heavy-duty pickups and tractors beginning in the 2014 model year. The EPA and DOT set January 3, 2011 as the deadline for comments on the proposed rule. For more, visit www.epa.gov.
