Feds consider funding Flagstaff 'Mountain Links'

A new express transit bus line from Northern Arizona University’s campus in Flagstaff, AZ to downtown shopping other commercial locations is under consideration by federal transit officials. The nearly six-mile “Mountain Links” is estimated to cost more than $6 million. Last week, the Mountain Links project was one of 13 potential programs under consideration by the Federal Transit Administration. If implemented, the line would ferry an estimated 4,100 riders a day. The idea calls for buses to run every 10 minutes and every 15 minutes during non-peak hours. Other towns and cities vying for the federal funds are located in Colorado, California, Missouri, Massachusetts, Oregon and Washington State. For more, visit www.azta.com.
