Federal money to modernize transit infrastructure

Renewing and expanding America’s roadways and transit infrastructure is the main goal of President Obama’s $50 billion pledge, announced on Labor Day. Money for road repair will focus on modernizing the highway system, while also providing more jobs. Part of the transit plan is to build communities where people have more choices to use transit in their lives. That would result in decreased oil use, fuel savings and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. For more, visit www.whitehouse.gov.
