CTA receives grant money for bus rapid transit

The Chicago Transit Authority has received a $1.6 million grant from the federal government to use for shortening commuting times on its north-south crosstown trips. According to the Chicago Tribune, the Federal Transportation Association money is given in the hopes a special express bus service will speed up CTA’s western corridor routes. The bus rapid transit plan includes bus-only lanes, technology that communicates with traffic signals to allow a bus to go through busy intersections quicker. For more, visit www.chicagotribune.com.
