Contractor taking over Colorado Springs routes

Texas-based McDonald Transit Associates will begin running 18 bus routes in Colorado Springs beginning January 3. First Transit, which operates the bus routes, allowed the contract with the city’s transportation department to expire. According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, the annual contract is worth about $6 million. Mountain Metropolitan Transit, the city’s transportation department, inked the deal with McDonald, whose president said he plans to hire drivers who worked for First Transit.
