ABA raises $30,000 for tornado-ravaged Alabama

American Bus Association board members took a leadership role in raising funds to assist those affected by the deadly tornadoes that struck Alabama in late April. The ABA’s spring meeting for board members happened to be held in Birmingham about a week after the disaster hit. While handing out the 2011 ABA leadership Award to Craig Lentzsch, a former ABA board member, Lentzsch initiated a matching campaign with a $5,000 gift. Over the two days of meetings, ABA members raised more than $30,000 to benefit the United Way of Alabama.

“It’s hard to think of an organization more worthy than the United Way to help lead the relief and rebuilding efforts in Alabama,” said ABA Board Chair James Jalbert of C & J Lines. For more, visit www.buses.org.
