While Maria Ortiz-Corado waited at a South Lake Tahoe bus stop for a taxi last week, her unborn baby decided it was time to go. Ortiz-Corado and her husband were waiting on the corner of Pioneer Trail and Aspenwald to be taken to Barton Memorial Hospital. In the meantime, the infant decided to make an appearance 10 days early. Police dispatchers coached the couple through the birth of David Corado. Officers arrived minutes after the birth. Paramedics transported both mother and infant to the hospital, where they were reportedly cold but in good health. No word on whether the taxi ever arrived. For more, visit www.news10.net.
