An argument Tuesday night between a New York City bus driver and a teenage girl over her Chihuahua led to the driver allegedly being assaulted. According to CBS New York, the 17-year-old girl, identified as Steangeli Medina, got angry after her pet was prohibited from getting on the bus in the Fordham section of the Bronx. When driver Marlene Bien-Aime noticed the dog inside the teen’s jacket, the girl was told the pet needed to be in a carrier to ride on the bus. That’s when Medina allegedly flew into a rage and attacked Bien-Aime, who claims the teen grabbed her by the hair and broke her nose. Bien-Aime ended up being hospitalized. Medina has been charged with assault, menacing and harassment.
Soon after the incident a Transport Workers Union Local 100 representative called for new protective barriers in every bus that would encase and protect drivers from attacks.
