National School Bus Safety Week proposed

Indiana Democratic Representative Baron Hill is preparing a proposal for a presidential proclamation recognizing school bus drivers and their daily efforts to transport children safely to school. If the bill is passed and signed by President Obama, the third week of October would annually be designated National School Bus Safety Week. This year the special week will be observed the week of October 18. Past proclamations have been signed by President Nixon, when School Bus Safety Week was observed in April, and by President Reagan in October of 1981. Some 26 million students use buses to get to school each day. For more, visit www.house.gov.
