Made you look!

The 2010 BUSRide/Curved Glass Distributors MotorVision Competition begins now

Why wrap a bus? Lee Hilliard, Royal Tours, Asheboro, NC, says it best: “Made you look!”

Graphic wraps on buses and motorcoaches also present a moving message. Past winners of the annual BUSRide MotorVision Competition are proof enough.

It’s that time of year again for BUSRide readers to nominate and post their best and the brightest rolling billboards, moving murals and free-wheeling creativity.

For those reasons, Curved Glass Distributors, Derby, CT, has stepped up as presenting sponsor of the 2010 BUSRide MotorVision Competition.

“We are excited to sponsor the competition,” says Curved Glass Distributors president Mark Vece. “We see our association with BUSRide as an opportunity for other companies that service the coach industry to see what we do as a distributor of coach glass, and realize our commitment to their industry.”

Vece says as an independent business his company believes it is important to support other independent businesses and the motorcoach industry as a whole.

Curved Glass Distributors began in 1945 as the Whalley Glass Company in New Haven, and stands as one of the oldest family-owned glass companies in the country. It has been supplying glass replacement parts to the transit bus and motorcoach industries Coach and Transit Industry since 1975. Its client list of major transit agencies include MTA/New York, Chicago Transit Authority, Connecticut Transit, San Diego Transit, Miami Dade Transit Authority, LA Metro, Metro Houston, RTD Denver, New Jersey Transit, PACE, Veolia and MV branches.

“We make a point to enjoy our work,” says Vece. “This competition is certainly a way to support a more creative aspect of the industry.”

The bus wrap contest encourages owners and operators to churn the creative juices and exercise imagination that can turn bus and coach transportation into an art form.

Transit agencies and independent operators can submit their entries with photos and readers and bus aficionados can view and vote for their favorites. The BUSRide editors will announce the winning entries in the November print and digital issues.

This year’s categories are:

• Best bus wrap promotion of a transit agency

• Best bus wrap promotion of a motorcoach company

• Best bus wrap for a specialty conversion

BUSRide is accepting nominations through September 1, 2010.

Update: Voting is now closed. Results will be published in the November issue of BUSRide Magazine, and available on BUSRide.com.
