A spokesperson from Coach America offers this clarification to the July 2012 BUSRide Update item “Coach America shutting down July 23”:
Coach America is not going out of business or shutting down — [Since the announcement of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in January] the company has negotiated agreements with multiple buyers and anticipate most of their employees continuing employment with the buyers. Due to Federal law, layoff notices had to be sent to some employees. But again, Coach America expects most of their employees continuing employment with the buyers.
