APTA: Using transit equals holiday season savings

People wanting to save money during the upcoming holiday season may want to look toward using their local transit service. According to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), using the transit system can save an individual nearly $800 a month and over $9,000 a year. The APTA determines the savings by factoring in gas prices and monthly parking fees. The APTA says that individuals and families can save nearly $2,000 for their holiday budgets by simply using the transit system. In a recent ATPA survey, people in New York City could save $1,173 a month and more than $14,000 annually by using transit. New York is followed by Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle and Philadelphia. For more, visit www.apta.com.
