Accused texting driver prohibited from operating buses

A Turnbull, CT woman accused of sending and receiving more than 1,000 text message from April to May 2010 while driving a bus for special-needs children had been barred from driving a bus. According to the Turnbull Patch, Evelyn Guzman received probation and had her driver’s license taken away for two years. Guzman can no longer operate a bus.

She is charged with risk of injury to a minor, a Class C felony, and second-degree reckless endangerment, a Class B misdemeanor. The newspaper reported that Guzman was ordered to apologize to the parents and did so in court, but later outside recanted. Guzman’s daughter, Jennifer Davila, who was the bus monitor, was accused of abusing one of the students. Davila pled guilty and was given probation. For more, visit www.turnbull.patch.com.
