Academy Bus, Hoboken, NJ, the largest privately owned and operated motor coach company in the United States, purchased Archway Bus Transportation, Inc, West Warwick, RI, in an acquisition that includes the terminal building and existing buses.
This follows the company’s other expansion activity expansion transactions in New England such as a new bus terminal in Bridgeport, CT, and relationships with Sacred Heart, Fairfield and Yale Universities.
Academy Bus president Francis Tedesco says this acquisition allows customers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island access to new charter bus rental options, with Archway Bus Transportation CEO Stephen P. Archambault managing Rhode Island operations for Academy.
Archambault says his family founded the bus service that led to Archway more than 50 years ago, and believes Academy is the right company to continue the tradition.
