ABA coalition urges CSA changes

The American Bus Association, American Trucking Associations, and eight other transportation industry groups wrote to Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx August 22, urging changes to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program.

Because of the well-documented problems, ABA and its coalition partners are asking Secretary Foxx to direct FMCSA to remove motor property and passenger carriers’ CSA SMS scores from public view. Doing so, they say, will not only spare motor carriers harm, but will also reduce the possibility that the marketplace will drive business to potentially risky carriers that are erroneously being painted as safe.
