$101.4M earmarked for transit clean-fuel innovations

The Federal Transit Administration has $101.4 million up for grabs for all transit providers who introduce innovations that will create green jobs, promote the use of clean fuels and lessen the nation’s dependence on oil. Of the $101.4 million, $51.5 million is available through the Clean Fuels Grant Program and $49.9 million from the Transit Investment in Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction III (TIGGER III) Program.

Clean fuel grants will be given for a program’s ability to maintain the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ozone and carbon monoxide. TIGGER III grants will be given to those transit agencies that reduce energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and provide a return on the investment.
