Starline Tours sued by disabled beauty pageant winners

One of the largest tour companies in Los Angeles is being sued by a group of wheelchair beauty pageant contestants for allegedly being refused tickets because of their disability. The class action suit was filed by the Disability Rights Legal Center against Starline Tours. One of the planiffs, Ruthee Goldkorn, was Miss Wheelchair California in 2000 and 2001. According to KABC, the group claims Starline Tours, which operates bright red double-decker buses in Hollywood and surrounding areas, told them they could not accommodate the group after Goldkorn tried to purchase tickets.

A company spokesperson told KABC that Starline was on schedule to make each of their vehicles wheelchair accessible. The company’s website promotes it Grand City Tour of L.A., the Hop-on, Hop-off Double Decker City Tour, and the Movie Stars Homes Tour. For more, visit www.abclocal.go.com.
