NJ TRANSIT unveils 'My Bus' program

The first of thousands of special bus stop signs are being installed at 19,000 bus stops throughout New Jersey as part of  NJ TRANSIT’s “My Bus” program. The first signs were installed Tuesday in Atlantic City. The signs allow travelers to find out when the next bus is arriving and other bus schedule information. Unique five-digit numbers specific to each bus stop enables customers with cell phones with SMS (text messaging) capabilities to receive bus schedule information directly on their phones. The feature makes automated bus schedule information available 24 hours a day for the first time. NJ TRANSIT is the nation’s largest statewide public transportation system providing more than 895,000 weekday trips on 240 bus routes, three light rail lines and a dozen commuter rail lines.
