Metro celebrates first annual ‘Golden Bus’ Awards for outstanding employee achievement

Metro was thrilled last week to hold its first annual Golden Bus Awards banquet, in recognition of outstanding employee achievement over the course of 2021.

“Excellent transit service isn’t possible without our excellent employees who deliver that service, and the Golden Bus Awards highlight the best of the best,” said Metro CEO and General Manager Darryl Haley. “As the culmination of our year-long employee recognition program, these awards showcase those who most embody Metro’s core values.”

Bronze, Silver and Gold

Finalists for this year’s Golden Bus Awards were selected from the year’s monthly Bronze Key and Silver Wheel award winners, which give employees and managers the chance to recognize their peers from each of Metro’s six divisions for outstanding achievement.

The inaugural recipients of the Golden Bus Awards were:

  • Cynthia Bruns (Operator of the Year, Queensgate Division)
  • Patrick Wilson (Operator of the Year, Bond Hill/Access Division)
  • Dave Thiem (Maintenance Employee of the Year, Queensgate)
  • Tony Sims (Maintenance Employee of the Year, Bond Hill/Access)
  • Randy Stidham (Administrative/Support Employee of the Year)
  • Patrick Giblin (Leadership Employee of the Year)

Congratulations and thank you to all those who received recognition at the Golden Bus Awards and throughout 2021!
