Lawsuits claim St. Louis bus stops unsafe

A number of families in the St. Louis area are suing the Missouri Department of Transportation, St. Louis County and Bi-State Development, claiming area bus stops are unsafe. According to KMOV-News, the civil lawsuits come after the death of a man and two women left with crippling injuries. In September 2010 two women were hit when a car crashed into them as they stood at a Bi-State shelter waiting for a Metro bus. Another family is suing after Frank Wright was killed last June when a vehicle struck him at a St. Louis County bus stop. He was also waiting at a Bi-State shelter.

Lawyers, claiming there are no safety measures in place to protect waiting pedestrians, allege negligent planning and design, negligent construction, and negligent placement and maintenance of bus stops. For more, visit www.kmov.com.
