King County ‘War Crimes’ ad rejection upheld

A Washington State judge has upheld a decision by King County Transit officials to reject a bus ad that alleged Israeli war crimes. Last year King County accepted the ad that would run on the sides of its Metro buses, but then canceled its decision after a public outcry, law enforcement warnings and other groups planning to run counter ads.

According to The Seattle Times, the ad in question showed a child standing next to a demolished building in Gaza with the words “Israeli war crimes – Your tax dollars at work.” The ad was presented by the Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign, who had filed a lawsuit claiming King County had discriminated against an unpopular viewpoint.
