Indian Tribes awarded $15.1M for transit needs

The Federal Transit Administration has approved $15.1 million to improve public transportation for American Indian and Alaska Native tribal governments across the U.S. Grants have been OK’d for nearly 60 separate projects, including equipment purchases and facility construction and improvements.

FTA Administrator Peter Rogoff said, “Planning and expanding public transportation on or near Indian reservations will give those who live on tribal lands – sometimes in very remote areas – better access to jobs, health care, and other vital services.” For a complete list of projects, visit www.fta.dot.gov.
