High fuel prices bring savings for transit riders

With the price of a gallon of regular gas at $3.08 in the first week of January, people using public transit are saving money every day. According to the American Public Transportation Association’s monthly “Transit Savings Report,” transit riders are saving more than $800 a month, based on not using fuel and saving on monthly parking rates. Gas prices are currently at their highest level since October 2008 and 32-cents higher than a year ago at the same time.
