FMCSA shuts down Georgia bus company

Doraville, GA-based H & W Tour, Inc. has been ordered by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to immediately cease all intrastate and interstate passenger service. The directive comes after the agency uncovered violations it deemed “so widespread as to demonstrate a continuing and flagrant general disregard” for the safety of its passengers and the motoring public. The Imminent Hazard Out of Service order was issued on Wednesday.

The investigation into H & W Tours found that the company continued to transport passengers without federal operating authority and without the required level of insurance. A compliance review found the company failed to conduct pre-employment drug tests on drivers and failed institute a random drug and alcohol testing program as required by federal regulations. It was also discovered that H & W failed to ensure that its drivers comply with hours-of-service requirements, records of duty requirements and driver’s qualification requirements. Company buses were also not properly inspected, maintained or repaired by the company as required.

The Imminent Hazard Out of Service command ordered H & W Tour buses currently on the road to proceed to their next immediate destination, where passengers can be released and guaranteed safety.
