Service between Fort Collins and Longmont debuts this week
Tom Hacker writing for the Loveland Reporter-Herald reports FLEX, the new Colorado bus service connecting Fort Collins, Longmont and the territory in between made its debut Monday, June 7.
Before today, he says the option for some was to take the FoxTrot bus from Fort Collins to Loveland and then hitchhike the rest of the way. Now FLEX has opened a new world to northern Colorado residents who depend on transit service, or who just want to get out from behind the wheel.
The air-conditioned natural-gas-burning FLEX buses service riders at any one of 22 stops in Fort Collins, Loveland, Berthoud and Longmont along the 30-mile U.S. 287 route, as well as connect to the metro-Denver Regional Transportation District network of express bus and rail services.
Until Monday, the only bus service between Fort Collins and Denver was by Greyhound — with an $18 one-way fare and a circuitous route from Fort Collins to Greeley, then to Longmont and points south.
