First Student offers bus service for Lorain High School students in Ohio

First Student will provide round-trip transportation to Lorain High School students in Ohio throughout the 2012-2013 school year by offering a shuttle service to and from designated bus stops. The plan follows the district’s decision to eliminate high school busing due to budget cuts.

“Having access to school transportation is crucial for many families,” said Scott Turney, area general manager, First Student. “We are pleased to provide this service to ensure students get to school safely and on-time.”

Parents can apply for a bus pass at the First Student Lorain location at 1800 Colorado Avenue, Lorain, OH, beginning July 31 at 11:00 a.m. The cost for the service is $20 per student for the entire 2012-2013 school year. Payment is due at the time of registration, and students will receive their bus passes in the mail. Bus stop locations will be announced in August.

The bus service is being provided free of charge to the Lorain City School District, and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
