COTA offers free fares if snow emergency declared

As the upper Midwest and Northeast brace for another winter storm, the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) in Columbus says it will provide free fares on all buses on all routes in the event a Level 2 or Level 3 snow emergency is declared by the Franklin County Sheriff’s office. COTA President and CEO Bill Lhota said the offer of free fares would help reduce traffic congestion and enhance safety on area roadways. The offer would also assist the effort in snow removal and salting countywide.

A Level 2 call means roadways are hazardous with blowing, drifting snow. A Level 3 means all roads are closed to non-emergency personnel and that no one should be out unless absolutely necessary. For more, visit www.cota.com.
