Officials at the Colorado Center for the Blind are coordinating a grassroots effort in response to proposed transit cuts by Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD). The Littleton, CO-based private nonprofit school that trains blind students from around the country claims the 
reduction in or cutting of bus routes would negatively affect the center’s students. The school is in downtown Littleton, which provides easy access to bus transit and light rail modes of travel. School officials will be at public RTD meetings this week to have their concerns heard.
Earlier this year RTD staff took the findings and recommendations from the Fiscal Sustainability Task Force presented to the RTD Board. A group reviewed RTD’s financial needs and how to continue servicing the public and not experience large service level cuts.
