Carrier selling North America bus A/C business

York, PA-based Carrier is selling its bus air-conditioning business in North America to Mobile Climate Control, a subsidiary of Ratos AB, a Sweden-based financial investment company. Mobile Climate Control is a global provider of climate control solutions for the commercial vehicle industry.

Carrier’s North American bus A/C business had sales of about $60 million in 2010 and has approximately 50 employees. Carrier has served transit, inter-city and school bus customers in the U.S. and Canada with rooftop, rear-mount and split system bus air-conditioning systems. When the deal is finalized within 30 days, operations will transition from Carrier’s Athens, GA facility to Mobile Climate Control. Last year, Carrier sold its Sütrak bus air-conditioning business, which had operations in the U.S. and Canada.
