BISC/BusMARC Webinar Series: Updating Your Security Capabilities, Policies and Protocols to Handle Teleworking Employees

Tuesday Jan. 12, the American Bus Association hosted the latest webinar in their ongoing educational virtual safety and maintenance series, titled Updating Your Security Capabilities, Policies and Protocols to Handle Teleworking Employees.

 Presenters included Lee Allen, a Surface Division Cybersecurity Lead with the TSA’s Office of Security Policy & Industry Engagement/Surface Division, and Benjamin Gilbert, a cybersecurity advisor with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the newest federal agency under the Department of Homeland Security.

According to the ABA, “Motorcoach operators face a variety of security risks on a daily basis due to their precious cargo, flexible operational profiles, and diverse operating environments. A new security risk that has emerged as a result of the COVID-19 environment is increased teleworking.”

Discussion topics included today’s risk landscape, types of threats, cyber threats that can cause operational impacts, methodology of a cyberattack, protective measures, post COVID-19 reopening strategies, developing strategies for remote work, telework guidance, and cyber security training resources.
