Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash of a Megabus near Syracuse, NY early on September 11 that left four dead and 24 others transported to area hospitals. According to The Canadian Press, the double-decker Megabus hit the bottom of a railroad bridge on the Onondaga Lake Parkway, overturned and landed on its side around 2:30 a.m. Authorities believe the driver misjudged the low bridge, which is at a height of 10 feet, 9 inches. The Megabus is more than 13 feet tall. The 59-year-old driver, who apparently took a wrong turn and was not on a prescribed route, has been with Megabus since July 21. The Megabus left Philadelphia around 10 p.m. Friday night en route to Toronto, with scheduled stops in Syracuse and Buffalo.
