The American Public Transportation Association has recognized public transit systems with top safety and security programs. The winners of the Bus Safety & Security Excellence Awards were announced at the annual APTA Bus & Paratransit Conference in Memphis, TN, being held through Wednesday.
The top honor Gold Award for safety with fewer than four million annual passenger trips went to Southwest Transit in Eden Prairie, MN. The Gold Award for bus systems with more than four million passengers and fewer than 20 million passenger trips went to the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority. The Gold Award for security excellence went to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.
