A last-minute amendment has saved a portion of transit service blind students at a Littleton, CO school. According to the Denver Post, late Tuesday Regional Transportation District officials in Denver approved a plan that will save the agency $10.7 million next year, but kept peak-hour service on one bus route used by students at the Colorado Center for the Blind in Littleton. Three routes used by the blind students were planned to be halted by the RTD. The idea was met with protest and resistance by school officials and residents.
A task Force launched about a year ago suggested a number of measures that would slash the RTD’s budget. Among the cuts, other ideas included money from new advertising, reducing expenses and the sale of naming rights for assets.
