18-year-old arrested for slugging Allentown bus driver

Allentown, PA police say an 18-year-old woman slugged LANTA bus driver Barbara Rosamilia over a dispute over the passenger’s claim to a student discount. According to The Morning Call, Daquasia Kim Ransome was arrested on Friday after police viewed bus surveillance footage. The alleged incident occurred on Feb. 27.

Police say Ransome boarded the bus and handed Rosamilia the $1 student rate, which is half the regular fare. When questioned about the fare, an argument began when Rosamilia asked what school Ransome attended. As the driver pulled the bus out into traffic Ransome allegedly punched the driver in the face.

After stopping the bus, police say Rosamilia struggled with the 18 year old, and then pushed her down the bus steps and through the door. Ransome fled the scene. The bus driver suffered a swollen lip and injuries to her right knee, back of her neck and the top of her head, police said.

Ransome was charged with simple assault, harassment, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, and was sent to Lehigh County Prison. She was released Saturday on $10,000 bail.
