DCTA president called to serve in Afghanistan

26-year veteran to serve as a Lieutenant Colonel

The Denton County Transportation Authority, Lewisville, TX announced this week its president, Jim Cline, has been called to active duty by the Texas Army National Guard to serve in Operation Enduring Freedom. Cline will serve as a Lieutenant Colonel with the 176th Engineer Brigade in Afghanistan.

During his anticipated yearlong absence, Jim Witt, former DCTA president, will return to lead the agency as DCTA’s chief executive officer. A 26-year veteran of the Texas Army National Guard, Cline was previously assigned as the commander of the 386th Engineer Battalion. He has served in various capacities stateside to include serving as the Liaison Officer for the Dallas area during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He will enter active duty on July 10th.

“Jim Witt and I share a desire for continuity of leadership during my absence and during this dynamic time in the agency’s history,” says Cline. “His returning means positive momentum and aggressive strategy of service delivery for DCTA can continue unimpeded by my deployment.”

Witt served as DCTA president until Cline’s hiring in 2010. Since agreeing to assist during Cline’s deployment, he has been working part-time with the agency to stay abreast of DCTA’s progress and any developing issues. He will assume the duties of the CEO on July 6th.
