VIA Metro Transit opens new themed bus shelter

San Antonio-based VIA Metropolitan Transit has cut the ribbon to open a new, one-of-a-kind bus shelter on City-Base Landing in Brooks City-Base.

The shelter’s design was inspired by elements used throughout the Brooks City-Base development, and  exemplifies VIA’s commitment to improving transit amenities in the vicinity while integrating them with the overall character of the area. The structure features a unique seating design and structure elements as well as LED lighting to enhance the sustainability of the project.

The shelter marks the beginning of new public transportation amenities in Brooks City-Base. VIA has a plan for a complete transit facility in the heart of Brooks City-Base as part of the slate of projects for the first five years of the Long Range Comprehensive Transportation Plan.
