MTA launches AutoLoad system

Maryland Transit Authority customers can now purchase cash value and pass products over the Internet for their CharmCard through the agency’s new AutoLoad program. The plastic, rechargeable card contains a computer chip that can be read by various fare collection systems for MTA buse, light rail and subway use. Customers can now log on to their MTA account and pay with a credit card.

The CharmCard is linked to the SmarTrip card used in the Washington, D.C. area. The card allows customers to more easily travel throughout Maryland, D.C. and northern Virginia.
