El Paso transit agency may receive $13.5 million

Federal funding in the amount of $13.5 million could be headed to El Paso, TX. According to the El Paso Times, the Mesa Corridor Bus Rapid Transit project would feature 13 new stations for an 8.6-mile bus rapid transit line, increasing the reach of the current system. All depends on congressional approval of the federal transportation budget for fiscal year 2012. Funds will also be used to purchase 10 low-floor, 60-foot articulated CNG buses, while El Paso’s Union Depot facility would be upgraded to accommodate the new fleet.
