Can anyone explain to me why a rear bus tire is never place on the front and if it was how would a driver know if he was not present to see it.? Are there different tire numbers or letters that designate the rear or front tire? Thanks Gary

I have to agree that braking during a front tire flat stabilizes the unit. I have experienced this on logging trucks and also on motorcycles [two occasions]. In each situation the wobbling vehicle scared me so badly I was reluctant to try anything but neccessity drove me to try my brakes. The result was immediate and stability returned. The second time it occured on my motorcycle I watched the front wheel as I increased and decreased the brake pressure. As the braking increased the rim held a straight track and decreased pressure caused the rim to wander left and right. Braking improved traction.
I have been driving professionally for 35 years. The use of new front tires rotating to the rears as they wear down reduces the likelyhood of front flats considerably.
I like the idea of onboard inflation systems that can enhance traction control devices and deflate the tires slightly to navigate slippery road surfaces.

The On Board Tire Inflation System from SUPER AIR monitors air pressure and allowes for inflation on the go and would near compleatly eliminate this problem and also improve tire life and fuel economy and is resonably priced . a no brainer.
