Cummins SCR engine shipments rise in August

Columbus, IN-based Cummins Inc. will ship up to 26,000 heavy-duty and mid-range engines with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) exhaust after treatment by the end of August. The move comes after just seven months of production. The engines are a result of a company pledge to produce engines that are more reliable and have better fuel economy. Rich Freeland, Cummins’ president of engine business, says the SCR engines meet EPA 2010 emissions levels and delivers up to six percent improved fuel economy.
