Motorcoach flips on Garden State Parkway

Police point to driver fatigue as probable cause of early morning crash

A charter motorcoach registered to Darkanu Bus Company, Brooklyn, NY, which serves the Hasidic Jewish community, was carrying about 22 people when it ran off the Garden State Parkway in Middletown, NJ, and flipped on its side early Wednesday morning around 5:30 a.m. June 2, 2010.

State police said six people sustained minor injuries. The coach was headed south to Lakewood returning from a wedding ceremony when it left the toll road.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but the New Jersey State Police believe theĀ  main factor in the crashdriver, is theĀ 35-year-old man from Brooklyn, NY, suffering driver fatigue.

The coach bus overturned on the right side of the highway, prompting authorities to shut down the center and right lanes to traffic for about two hours.
