ABC Companies to refurbish Greyhound coaches

Work begins in Nappanee, IN

Greyhound Lines, Inc, Dallas, TX, the largest provider of intercity bus transportation, and ABC Companies, Faribault, MN, have partnered to refurbish 250 Greyhound motorcoaches with new amenities including Wi-Fi, power plug-ins, leatherette passenger seating and extra legroom, as well as new wheelchair lifts. Each refurbished coach will reflect the new Greyhound exterior branding.

“We are pleased to be working with ABC Companies to improve the Greyhound passenger experience,” says Dave Leach, president and CEO of Greyhound. “The new amenities and design of the Greyhound motorcoach will provide our customers with a more comfortable travel experience. While we continually strive to provide affordable and environmentally friendly transportation, we also are looking to provide comfort and bring a more modern convenience to the industry.”

ABC Companies will refurbish Greyhound’s MCI 102DL3 coaches at a facility in Nappanee, IN, which it says is strategically dedicated for this project. ABC Companies says based on the availability of skilled workers, suppliers and ample space this facility is ideal. Greyhound and ABC Companies will generate 120 jobs in the area specifically for this project, which is estimated to take 12 to18 months to complete.

“We look forward to beginning our operations in Nappanee,” says Lee Loper, ABC Companies vice president and general manager of the Nappanee refurbishing facility. “We are very happy with the many applicants we have received for our open positions. We chose this area in hopes of infusing the entire community with the energy we are bringing to the project.”

This current project is phase one in Greyhound’s refurbishment plan. Greyhound operates a total of 2,200 buses serving more than 3,800 destinations across North America. More than 600 of its buses are 102DL3 coaches.
